Hello all!
For those of you who have been working along with my Agility series on YouTube, I thought I would offer a few additional points that I don't mention in the videos.
Divide and conquer. Another way to think about this that we're going to rotate our attention as we work the exercises.
- Do the exercises the first few times as I present them.
- Work through them again, this time primarily focusing on your appoggio practice.
- Try them again, this time focusing entirely on your tonal onsets.
Again, this time on releases. - Once more, now focused on dynamics - least viable at the tonal onset (depending on where it starts) and crescendo'ing on ascending phrases, decrescendo'ing on descending phrases.
- Now again, focused on maitenance of your engagement in the pauses between key areas. Try to keep 60% of your engagement active.
- For extra credit, having done all that, substitute vowels from your repertoire into the exercises as appropriate. In other words, identify phrases in your songs that are similar to a given exercise, and use the vowels from the lyrics. No consonants.
Enjoy!!!
