I had a great idea for a newsletter this week. It came to me right while I was editing videos and I thought, 'that's so good, there's no way that I'll forget it.'
Don't worry, I'm not going to bury the lead here. I totally forgot it.
Now, if this was the first time that this happened to me, one might understand and have some compassion. Fact is, this happens more often than I can believe, and still happens with some regularity.
This isn't so much a blog post or piece of advice as it is a public service announcement, and here it is:
Have a strategy
Now more than ever we can capture our creative ideas for later exploration. The resources include but are hardly limited to:
smart phones
dumb phones that can text
tablets
stone tablets
Pen and paper
Pen and forearm
Pencil and paper (my personal favorite)
laptop computers
desktop computers
napkins
menus
the margins of books
the margins of library books - in pencil only and erase it when you copy it out of there.
and so on.
What is your strategy? Do you have a strategy? If you don't, might I suggest now is a good time to consider what would work best for you?
Don't be like me.
